Bob Janosov was a good and decent man. He was an extraordinary local historian…an inspired teacher…a man who was dedicated to preserving the best of our past.

Throughout the Wyoming Valley one sees the results of his work in historical markers that celebrate our history…in books that tell our story…in students that he taught and in the proposals he wrote to preserve our past.

As a commissioner on the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission he represented us with intelligence, dignity and class.

As a colleague dedicated to preserving the Huber Breaker, he was tireless in his efforts to save that magnificent monument of anthracite mining.

Bob did his work well. He was careful in his research, and meticulous in his documentation of our historical treasures.

At meetings and social functions, he was thoughtful, humorous and well spoken.

In so many ways he was an example of Northeastern Pennsylvania at its very best.

Kitch and I will miss him as a colleague and friend.

Although our part in his life was a very small one, he had a great impact on us and the things we believe.

You can be sure that we will recall his memory often and think about his many contributions to our state and our community.

All of us who knew Bob are saddened by his passing, and as a community all of us are diminished by his death. It will be difficult, indeed, to replace his incredible knowledge of our past and the skillful way he could incorporate it in articles, books and proposals.

We extend our condolences to his lovely wife, Teddi, and the members of his family. In their pain and suffering they can take great pride and receive much comfort in Bob’s many accomplishments.

Bob Janosov was a good and decent man and a community leader we could little afford to lose.

We pay tribute to his memory by dedicating this broadcast of Daniel J. Flood: The Next Closest Thing to God to his memory.
