It’s been a week of pleasant surprises here in Windsor Park. It all began with a whirlwind trip to State College, PA, where we rendezvoused with Bill Coleman and his family. The capstone of our visit with Bill was a three-hour dinner at the Nittany Lion Inn. We laughed, we learned, and we experienced a feeling of community that was nothing short of heartwarming.

The weather outside was cold, damp and dreadful, but inside it was like a second Christmas morning. Good food, good conversation and good fellowship.

Our next stop was an early morning visit to the Wegmans Food Market and Café. Two of our friends, John and Joyce Lucas, suggested that we meet there for breakfast, and we were more than happy to accommodate them. In our minds, Wegmans is synonymous with everything that a first class business should be.

And it was no surprise to us that shortly after our breakfast with John and Joyce at the University Park Wegmans, the company was again selected as one of the top ten places to work in America.

The inclement weather cancelled any plans we had for location work, and it necessitated our early return home. No sooner had we settled in than the phone rang. At the other end of the line was one of our friends who spoke with enthusiasm about the new promo she had seen on WBRE TV for The New Windsor Park Stories.

“It was just great,” she said. “It captured the look and the feel of the show. It was just like the show, visually appealing and elegant in design.”

The next day the phone rang again. This time the caller had more comments about the new WBRE promo. “I liked it a lot,” he said. “They did a nice job, and I just wanted to tell you how happy I am for you.”

Funny how a 30-second promo can evoke such responses.

As we said in the beginning, it’s been a week of pleasant surprises here in Windsor Park and, for that, we are grateful.
